This may sound stupid, but does the C5 have a transmission temp gauge? I’m talking about a 6 spd and if not where can I get one and how hard is it to install?

If you get a high temp warning (as I often do at the track )....you hit the reset button on the DIC, and it tells you the temp. I've seen 275* many times in my Z06....

Is this a transmission temp warning or oil temp? I’m looking for a transmission temp gauge.
The Oil temp will show in the DIC. Only a high trans temp warning will show up not the actual temp in the DIC.
The time and money spent to put in a trans temp gage might be better spend on putting in a trans cooler. Many of us have them for track days.
I have the GM T1 cooler system. Seperate trans cooler located in front of the radiator with a pump in the right rear wheel well. Manual switch in the old ash tray compartment.
Too many gages can be a distraction.
Replaceing the trans and diff fluids with synthtic helps keep those temps down too.

A transmission temperature sensor was added to protect the M12 from higher thermal stresses. The sensor warns the driver via the Driver Information Center with a TRANS OVER TEMP light if thermal loads become excessive, meaning that the transmission could be damaged if not allowed to cool down.
A Z06 does not show the actual temp???
I know the C5 does not. I added the T1 Tranny Cooler too. I turn it on after the fluids heat up a bit....

The Z06 shows the actual temperature....if there is a high temp warning. When you receive the warning on the DIC, hit the reset button and it tells you the TRANS. temp.

Can this be set up in the regular C5? Since these cars are made with a lot of common parts, maybe the wiring is there and just a few things need to be added. Just a thought...anybody know?
