Haha maybe i should just take it by chevy tomorrow and see if a service tech will tell me where my wire connection went to without charging me

That's where I pulled mine from for the picture. Mine's mounted fairly solid, but it could have fallen out when you removed the shroud. I can't immagine it being that expensive.

It will be easy to tell if it is the temp sensor just turn the key on and if your HVAC display in the dash reads 69 degrees the ambient air temp sensor is unpluged. If the sensor got lost it is easy to replace it just pushes into a hole in the shroud with a "door panel style clip or pin"
