Just to make sure... motive gears are the ones that DTE, ECS, so on and so forth install right??? I am looking to get 390's and hardened output shafts for a little less than dte sells everything for.. gears are only 300 now I have to find the shafts and a good gertrag savy shop.
MG is the *ONLY* manufacturer of aftermarket ring-pinion sets for the C5/C6 Corvette Getrag differentials. Any additional metallurgical treatments such as micro-polishing, shot-peening, cryogenics, surface lapping, micro-film coatings are typically performed by the builder at additional costs. We offer all five options depending on application..
i am no expert or anything, but when it comes to the gears in these cars better make sure the shop that does them has done lots of them and has many happy customers that you can talk to. it may be worth the extra cash to have dte or another vender do them for you. trying to save a little may cost you a lot in the end. i have been researching this for a while as i am about to put a set of 3.90's im my car and have heard of a lot of horror stories about improper gear set up. DTE has a very good reputation and good word of mouth from what i have seen so far. let us know how it works out.
I want DTE to do it but they are downright expensive
You get what you pay for!! They installed my 4:10's about a year ago and I've loved 'em every minute since then. I also got the hardened output shaft. Do it right the first time and then you don't have to worry about it again. Phil and Jenny are great to work with.
i know what you mean about cost. i dont have money to burn either but i think it is worth the extra cash to have it done right the first time. i am just going to wait a little longer to save up the money to have DTE do it for me. i have a funny feeling it will end up being cheaper in the long run.
