My 98 coupe has 100,000 miles so I've decided to change the spark plugs and wires even though the car is running fine. Just a quick question looked at the wires and they all seem the same length I picked them up from the local Chevy dealer($146.00 corvette tax) Gm part #88892763.

Ouch- did you buy them? if not...get yourself a set of MSD red wires from Summitracing.com for +\- $60. I put those along with NGK TR55 plugs...a lot of guys run this combo...
all the plugs wires are the same short style as the coil pack they plug into is on top of the valve cover...so there is not a long run to the plug. For that $$ though, I would go after market...

$700??? Holy Crap!
I did my tune up on the 97 in a few hours taking my sweet time and cleaning things as I went. The pain was the rear plugs (both sides for me) but not that bad...make sure you put some anti-seize on the plug threads and DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN them. those aluminum heads can strip out if you really put torque on them. I think I spent all of about $80 on my tune up! purrs like a kitten...you can even splurge on the plugs if you like...irridum (sp) tipped are also highly used...
