Default Replacing shifter - need advice

I am replacing my B&M shifter with a stock one (yes going back).

My shoulder is killing me and I don't want to drop the money on the 6-shooter just yet.

Does the I/P (console) have to be removed or can you just pop the boot out and do it that way?

My other question is - what is that L shaped rod that is with the shifter?

Thanks!

You cannot change the shifter without taking out the center console and the plastic that surrounds the radio/ area.

Here is a general writeup on how to switch to a hurst. It is basically the same to switch back to stock.

here is another writeup from Patches

The L shaped pin is a ZERO alignment pin. there is a small hole on the front snout. When the trans is shifted to neutral. the pin should be able to slip into the hole. If the alignment is off, you need to loosen the clamp on the shifter rod and adjust the linkage and shifter handle so that everything lines up.

So - Does the pin always stay in the hole? Or is it a tool you use to make sure you have it right - then store it somewhere?

you pull the pin out once you get the alignment correct otherwise you will not be able to shift.

Default have you contacted B*M for the lighter springs

I dealt with the muscle building stock B&M for about three years and then decided to put the smaller srings in that i ordered when i got the shifter. It is great. Or you can just cut the originals by one coil.

I didn't even know that was an option. I have only had the car about 2 weeks. I love the short throw. You just really have to muscle it into first and 6th.
