I have had my C5 in now two different times to the dealer to have that @#$% steering wheel lock recall done and I just now had the car towed in again because the service column lock popped up again and the car kept shutting off the fuel pump at 2mph…
Now they are telling me that the BCM has a short and needs to be replaced – Costing $750.00 – would the BCM cause that to happen and display that message??? They also said after they replaced the BCM - they would have to run more additional tests to make sure that was the problem - sounds to me like they are fixing through trial and error.....
I just call another chev dealer ship and found out if I would have bought the BCM myself, it would have cost $345.00 - It kills me to know this because these things are about a 3 minute replacement!
I don't think the column lock could fry the BCM. Are you experiencing anyother codes that could indicate the BCM is having problems? Did you check your service manual? That's where I start. Helps to cut down diagnostic time by the dealer's qualified mr. goodwrench And it helps to keep them honest, kinda like locks though, only keeps honest folks honest
Don't let them put a BCM in your car. The problem will probably be in the piece of SH*T harness they installed on the recall. That's what the problem was with mine.
Is there an after market harness available that I could buy that is of better quality…?
I hate having Dealer ships work on my cars when I’m more than able to do it my self!
What about the short that they found in my BCM?

I'm just very leery of dealers and their explanation of problems they supposedly find. If it's true that they in fact found a short in you BCM is one thing, but it's another when they say there is a short in the BCM and charge you $750, when in fact it's been proven that they have defective K harnesses and all they would actually do is change the harness out. I just don't trust many dealerships anymore.
If anyne knows if there is an after market K Wire Harness you can buy that's better than the factory one??? Or, if you could make one? That would be great!
Best Regards!
