I am trying to install the BBK throttle body on my '00 and am perplexed. I need to remove the power steering reservoir bracket to add the spacers, but I cannot seem to get one of the bolts out since the reservior itself is in the way. If I were to draing the power steering fluid it would be easy, but do I really need to do that? Or is there some trick of moving the reservoir another half inch so the bolt can come complete out?
Re: Help! Trying to install BBK throttle body (BluFRC)
Never installed one myself but I just went out side and looked. You should not have to remove the res unless the thottle body has guide pins and I don't believe that it does. If you need to remove the res I was able to get a 15mm box wrench on the top left bolt and had room to turn. I was then able to get a 3/8" drive 15mm socket with a short extension on the bottom right bolt and also had room to turn. Hope this helps...
Re: Help! Trying to install BBK throttle body (blackjack)
The spacers on the power steering reservoir bracket are needed to make room for the adapter that goes between the throttle body and the input manifold.
I can loosed the bolts up with no problem. The problem is that I have to get them out all the way in order to add the spacers.
Re: Help! Trying to install BBK throttle body (BluFRC)
Here's what I did:
1) Enlist the help of someone.
2) Disconnect the reservoir and quickly plug the bottom of the reservoir and the hose you just disconnected.
3) Have your extra set of hands quickly pull out the bolt, slide on the spacer, and reinsert.
4) Reconnect the reservoir
5) Screw in the bolt.
It's not the most elegant and you WILL get some fluid spillage, but it seemed to work pretty well for me. Good luck.
Re: Help! Trying to install BBK throttle body (BluFRC)
I bent the mounting bracket a little(without removal) and had no problem getting the BBK installed. You can't tell the bracket has been modified. I do not use the BBK any longer but that's another story
Re: Help! Trying to install BBK throttle body (BluFRC)
Ship that piece of crap BBK back to the manufacture and get your money back! Use the money to buy something useful! I'm sure there's some other mod you want. I had three BBK's and none of them worked
Get rid of it!
