I have installed the new GM 145 amp unit...made in Mexico...I get an intermittent "charging system failure" or "charging system fault" on the DIC. It always lasts about 8-10 seconds, then everything goes back to normal. There is no pattern to it.... sometimes it doesn't show for days....sometimes 3 or more times in an hour. My battery seems to stay fully charged.... have about 600 miles on the new alternator. I was told by a forum member that there is a PCM reflash to fix the charging algorythms.... I went to a local Chevy dealer and they couldn't find anything in the GM mandates about it. They still show a 110 amp as the replacement. What's the latest on a reflash?

Search under his Id for alternator.
C5 are very fussy about which alternator they take. The computer looks for a certain resistance. If you buy one that is not an EXACT duplicate.... you will have problems.
E-T recommended having the alternator rebuilt rather than replacement.
