Installing a FAST 90mm intake with LS2 TB. Do most of you change out your MAF to the larger 85mm MAF. I think my stock C5 MAF is 78mm which will be an airflow restriction. I know some remove the MAF altogether and do speed density tuning, but I'd prefer to keep one on my car right now. Any advice from those who have traveled this path would be appreciated.
Cheers
John
I'm starting to hear some real negatives with the FAST intake. For example:
- MAP sensor fitment interferes with the firewall.
- Some FAST intakes are warped?
- The intake will loosen up and leak over time, so it's a maintenance item that needs constant attention.
- some smoothing is needed on the sharp protrusions by intake port?
Can anyone else comment on these issues? Did you also encounter problems? Are you happy with your FAST 90 now? Did you feel you gained the HP you expected?
Thanks for your responses.
John
I can tell you that there was no problem with the MAP sensor, there's enough room back there.
As for gains, I have AS Stage II 5.3 liter heads, a 230/236 .570/.578 on 114 +4 with XR lobes and saw a gain of just over 10rwhp and about 20lbs/ft of torque. This was on a HOT day too.
*The FAST90 is only to allow more air to engine. The more the engine can use or "wants" the more benefit. Ported heads, bigger cams, headers etc. increase the demand for air. The biggest gains are on larger displacement engines.
