Looking underneath it looks like I bent the right frame rail good. Does this piece come off easily for replacement/repair?? What does it connect to? Damn parking spaces.
Re: Replacement for Bent Frame Rails? (BikerDuude)
You are talking about the front black rails that look like sled rails right? If so I believe that that piece just bolts on and is able to be bought from GM. To remove and replace it, you may have to remove the front bumper and shroud- no big deal. :chevy
Re: Replacement for Bent Frame Rails? (97silverbullet)
I've replaced a couple of them
The assembly supports the radiator , A/C condenser, air pump and horn , as I remember. The bumper does not have to come off but the shroud might. It's been awhile so I'm not sure about the shroud. The one problem I encountered was that the original assembly had threaded nuts that were inserted in the bars to mount the air pump and horn and the new one did not. I just used nuts and bolts and that worked fine. I don't know if the threaded inserts are available but if you order the assembly be sure to ask about that. The whole thing cost about $175. I would recommend that you install Frame Savers(shameless plug) on the new rails though. ANDY
Re: Replacement for Bent Frame Rails? (Andy@AandACorvette)
Thanks for all the replies. I will replace it and add the frame savers too! Anyone have the GM part number for the frame rails?? Thanks. Damn parking spaces.
Re: Replacement for Bent Frame Rails? (BikerDuude)
Part # 10400765
As others have said you will have no way to bolt things to it when you get it.
The holes are just that, holes.
I purchased a tool called "The Nutter" to do mine.
It makes the job easy and installs the nuts in the frame for a factory fit and finish.
Make sure you get metric nuts certs for the job as the tool comes with SAE.
