I had that happen once. Mine was do to a sticky locking mechanism.
I fixed it by getting the car up to speed and hitting the brakes pretty hard. Not hard enough to engage ABS but, borderline. That was enough to free up the locking mechanism. No issues since.
You could also try it the other way as well. Meaning accelerate as quick as you can. It could also be stuck in the acceleration position as well.
