Hearing alot of C5 users are switching out the old coils for the new C6 coils? Wanted to know if there was anything else need to complete other than the coils?
I can't imagine that any stock motor, or most modified motors, would need any more voltage than what the stock C5 coils deliver. If there was a gain to be made, this would have been a popular mod years ago.

theres lots differences in coils. you can't get enought spark to a engine. racers use 16 volts. GM was thinking going to 44 volts. but the LS2 coils are news to me.........have to put them on the list!
I have heard that the stock C-5 coils can easily support over 600 HP
Seems like everything on the motor can easily support over 600hp, but when someone does an upgrade they get a little better performance.
All the coils have to do is deliver enough voltage to bridge the spark gap in the compression that the heads are designed for. They might not work all that well on a high compression or FI car as a coil with higher output voltage.

Having said that I am using the stock coils with 11.3:1 compression on over 500 crank hp with a wider than spec gap (.045" rather than .035" for TR6 Iridiums), for good reasons, and have no issues with them.
The truck coils are hotter than the car coils. A lot of the F body guys are swapping to the truck coils.
Here's what I did with mine, I polished my covers and bolted the truck coils on. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...z/DSC00996.jpg
