Looks like a small dent but there is a little crack inside (5 mm or so). I suppose it will grow and eventually will develop a crack. I have a '98 with
NO HUD, and I think the antena might be embedded in the glass.
1. Where do I get the windshield?
2. Is it easy enough to install for a local glass guy, or should I go to a dealer?
3. Is the aftemarket available and is it any good? Who is the OEM for the glass?

Unless you are worried about aesthetics, I'd get it filled. My isurance does it for free. My DD coupe has had 3 rick chips in the windshield. The same day I got the first two fixed, another rock found its way to my windshield on the way home. Talk about a pisser.
i had that happen to my 98 also.
just a note for you.
when mine was done they also replaced the rubber arround the windshield. company said there was a new design weather stripping and the insurance company did cover it.
Safelite AutoGlass did mine.

Don't get a new windshield just yet. Even with the crack, contact your insurance company. They will often waive your deductable if you get it repaired vs replaced. Most professional auto glass shops will be able to fix this issue and some even come out to your house or place of work to do it. They clean the impact area where the rock hit, put a suction cup on the back side of the windshield just below the crack and inject a small amount of some type of liquid polymer using a needle and syringe. This liquid migrates into the crack and cures with UV light or sun light. When done properly, you will likely not even be able to see the crack. Maybe just a slight nick in the windshield. Works great and the windshield should not crack further. I guarantee you that you are asking for more potential problems having someone replace the windshield. Good luck with it.
