Will be road racing our 00' coupe with stock TC/trans again and I want to keep the temps down.......been looking at the different coolers, but as an experiment, I will be trying this one: http://www.yourcovers.com/tp_8650-3.shtml
Some of our members have the earlier version created by East Coast Transmissions, http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ansmission+pan
this is suppose to be the final production one.
I does take a stock filter, comes with all mounting hardware, fill & drain plugs and will add 4 quarts. I did call because the information on their webpage isn't very clear to me.....
If this doesn't keep it cool enough, I will also add a Moroso cooler like the one on my 97.

For what it`s worth, I have the B&M version and noticed aprox 10* reduction in temps in hot So Cal stop & go traffic.
Sorry, no track feedback!
Not sure if this applies to non-B&M deep pans but be mindful of side clearence issues if your running lrg dia x-pipe, I had to grind my exhaust flange (drivers side) where the cat back bolts to the x-pipe due to rubbing on the side of the pan. No ground clearance issues though....

wow, I love to hear about other a4 guys roadracing. Maybe we can bounce some ideas off of each other. We seem to be far and few between.
p.s. I had temps of 240 with a very big trans oil cooler on mine recently. I'm getting a bigger radiator to help this out as well. I doubt the bigger pan alone will do anything for you.--correction, I promise that you will have to get a cooler if you get serious, at 270 your warning will chime in on the DIC and you'd better start coasting to cool down.
p.p.s. I have tons of questions and thoughts regarding tuning/control parameters/gears/and torque converter needs for the road course. If anyone knows about these I would love to get a dialogue started, or maybe someone could point me in the right direction.
thanks

Keep the stock converter or max 2400 if you are going to road race. The C5 A4 produces high heat when running hard on a road course and takes extra cooling to keep it together. Just ask Howie!
I have road raced autos before plenty....I have 2 coolers in series on my 97' with an OEM pan and its fine. Next we try the pan 1st
I have telling Howie the set-ups that work for me

thanks for the input. For comparison (on a hot July day~96):
oil temps: 290's, trans temps: 240, coolant: 230-235
I was wondering about the 2-3 upshift. I want this shift to be more instantaneous, I haven't played around with the Predator programmer yet, but from my past experience, I will need something faster than it will provide. Do you recommend trango transmission rebuilding kit? I also want to avoid the automatic 3-2 downshift at all times, unless I manually select it. I would like to retain automatic shifting function only when in the overdrive position.

If you are trying the pan 1rst only, I'll tell you that it is doomed to failure. Your listed temperature of 270 is too high for the trans fluid also. You might cut your event short if you don't start it with a trans cooler.
Its on Had to grind a little to slip it past the exhaust, no problem or a suprise. Fluid looks good for a hard 49K, very little grit in the pan. Road clearance looks good to me
Time to put in some fluid and hit the road this weekend

Nice job, great pics.
Please report back any temp improvements.
Did you put in the bigger filter with an extention???
I have the B&M pan but havn't had a chance to even check it out as I blew my engine less than a week after the install
Looks like the 3 prongs in the pan are where the stock length filter will set.????? Maybe they keep the filter from dropping into the deeper pan.
Designed for a stock filter Placement is perfect IMHEO
This adds 4 quarts, B&M is 3 right???
Crazy.......yep, been that way for decades......bout the same time I have been racing auto's on and off every way you can without issue .......one change at a time
You guys are crazy trying to road race w/ an automatic Stick to the 1/4 mile.
Steve w/ all the cars you have I figured you'd have a used T1 car by now.
Hey Brian,
Last year at CMP my instructor (Jeff England) said I had the best setup on an automatic he had ever been in on a road course!!!
(And I still run the same car in the 1/4 mile!)
Please don't give Steve anymore ideas about cars.....we have no more room!!!!
