I've got a '99 FRC with LG Longtubes, and blackwing intake. I've been shopping for a cam and
I talked to Compcams and they recommended this cam to me. Once I get the cam I'll have the car professionally tuned. Do any of you forum members have this particular grind? I'm a little confused on what cam to get. It's part number 54-412-11. I'm also going to be going with a valvetrain upgrade kit too, with 921 springs. Here are the specs:
Advertised duration: 265 intake/271 exhaust
Duration at .050" valve lift 212 intake/218 exhaust
Valve Lift (1.7 rocker ratio) .522" intake/.529" exhaust.
Lobe Separation Angle 114°
If you have any input or suggestions, let me know. Thanks.

You need to give more info about what car you have ....auto--6sp? What applications are you looking for? More around town grunt? High HP for track?
Are you installing the cam yourself? Are you going to have a dyno tune done?
With a tune, the 224/230 114 cam is a better choice. If you wish to use something from the comp cams catalog then use the XER273hr. It is a well proven all around good performer. You will need to use better valvesprings.
Comp 921 valve springs are overkill with that cam, the 918's would be a good choice. Don't forget an oil pump since you have a 99 and also timing chain. What are your goals for the car and how do you want it to drive. A cam can make or break the car depending on what you are looking for.

But look at the PRC or Patriot Gold dual springs just for a margin of safety. You're doin the right thing by asking people.
Figure out exactly what cam you want and then go one bigger.
I've sold a Lunati Voodoo cam that's .531/.531 212/218 113/109 it's very close to the Comp. cam. I know this cam (Lunati) produces good power and is as big as is recommended for a stock converter.
thats a nice small cam. I usually recommend the 921 springs but you can save some money if you stay with that cam and use the gold springs or even 2002 z06 GM springs.
now the 224/230 114 cam is a better choice as noted because you will want more. this cam works good with an auto trans if you have one. with this cam I would use the 921 springs
ether way do the oil pump, pushrods and dial it in with an adjustable timing chain.
