OK guys I'm gonna ask here before I run to the store and buy a different style CV boot clamp. I'm doing the outer CV axle for my C5 and the kit is a factory kit. The inner CV clamp I am familiar with, I have the tool that puts the kink in the clamp to tighten it down, it is the same one that is pictured in the factory service manual. however the larger clamp is completely different. I see nowhere to put a tool onto it. There is no kink to make tighter. How do I use this style CV clamp???
Don't buy anything. If I can figure out how, I'll post some pictures showing how to install a low profile clamp. Hopefully the tool you used on the small clamp will work. Patience.
Try to use the low profile clamp as it provides proper clearance and is more robust. Here are 3 pictures which show the steps and a tool which will work. This isn't the Corvette clamp. Happens to be a Toyota clamp but the idea is the same.
I changed mine and i said hell with this clamp, its liek they sent me a too small of one, i do have the band pliers but would not clamp up right. So i used a strap tie and hasnt caused any trouble at all..
