This has started popping up since having my brakes bled and a new thermostat installed. Does anyone have experience with troubleshooting this code, or able to provide me any tips?
Here's what happens and what I've tried so far.
Car (2004 C5) starts and runs normally, but the red airbag light on the dash never goes out. After researching, I discovered that this light is also referred to as the SIR (Supplemental Inflatable Restraint) Lamp. That name must have been thought up by the same person who coined CHMSL for the 3rd brake light! If I disable the passenger airbag via the key-switch in the glove box, the SIR goes out like normal after startup. The problem is, doing so now keeps the Passenger Airbag disabled light "on" in the console.
I couldn't find a definition of this code specifically for C5's, but I found this for C6: SDM: B0101 - Discard Front End Sensor 1
Any help out there (maybe a picture of this sensor)? And before anyone mentions it, it's not the battery.
Thanks, but that's not it. When scanning the DIC, this code pops up in the 58 SDM area. I think it might be unique to '04 C5. Maybe I'd have better luck posting this in C6 Tech.
"Owners of some 2005 Chevrolet Corvettes may experience an SIR lamp after depressing the horn for more than 5 seconds or using the horn two or three times in succession. A current or history code B0104 or B0101 may be set in the SDM. Make sure the horn bracket is properly attached and torqued to the skid bar assembly of the frame. If the concern still exists, advise the customer that Engineering is investigating the concern. TIP: Replacing the SDM or the sensors will not resolve the concern." quoted by Paul Radzwilowicz found in the GM Tech Link handout.
