Default Info on replacing headlamp control module?

Looks like the headlamp control module has crapped out on my '99. Both headlights all of a sudden refuse to come up. I've checked fuses, connections, battery cables, etc.

I think the control module is located somewhere on the front passenger side. Does anybody have any info on how to get to it, how difficult it is to replace, and how much the module might cost?

Thanks...

It is behind the pass. side headlight. You can remove the black plastic panels underneath the car, forward of the tire, to get at it. You'll need to manually crank up the headlights first.

I would check the ground of your current unit first prior to replacing it, or at least check for 12v out at the unit itself. The unit is in a bad spot for water intrusion/moisture damage, and it shares the ground connection on top of the forward frame rail. Troubleshooting electrics sure is fun, eh? There is only about 100 miles of cable in the car, and about 10 computers. (just a sarcastic guess.... )

Someone here will know but there is a guy in MS who has used C5 parts, also Karshop, another forum vendor, may have them as well. A new unit is probably not too much either, there is not much to it.

Good luck.

Just some other info that may help troubleshoot this.

If you look at the connector behind the headlight (5 wires) the 2 wires used to open/close the headlight should always have +12V on both. I believe on one headlight it's Light Blue/Dk Blue and on other side it's Light Green/Dk Green. When the control module goes to open the headlights, it will switch the Dark wires (Dark Green and Dark Blue) to ground momentarily then back to +12V. To close the headlights, it grounds the Light wires. If you don't have +12V on these, then the control module is not properly connected. If there is +12V then the grounds need to be checked to ensure they have a clean connection.

You could first try disconnecting the 2 connectors on the control module and reconnecting to make sure it's not a minor connector issue (loose).
