Well, i own a 98 removeable top vette and both the seats have a rocking problem...i found a thread about removing the seat, but i think i have an easier way to remove the problem part than to take the whole seat apart. here is how i did it: (i'd show pictures, but i didn't realize that i needed to host my own pics from another site)
1. remove seat (of course), turn upside down.
2. use a pair of vice grips and T40 torx to remove the acme screw.
3. remove the 2 screws that hold the rail to the acme nut holder. (T25 i think)
4. slide the acme screw/nut out of the rail
5. clean and shim the holder as needed (i needed shims that were .235" thick to make a snug fit).
6. reassemble in reverse order. email me for pics @ hardeneric@hotmail.com

ok..here it is again...
1. raise back of seat completely up before removing from car.
2. remove 2 T25 screws.
3. get torx T40 bit and vice grips.
4. remove the single T40 screw.
5. slide screw assembly out.
6. shim with washers or whatever makes you happy.. i ground some 1/4 plate steel, cut and drilled the hole. shim needed was approx .235".
7. both of em done.. there are lh and rh threaded pieces, so keep them on the same side they came from or else your seat will move in reverse with the switch.
make sure that when you put them back together, the acme nuts are screwed on the same distance on each one. i installed the first one at some arbitrary distance, then before installing the second one, i put it next to it and made sure it was the same distance... also, make sure that the little drive shafts that are coming off the motors are properly inserted into the screw.... something i forgot to mention...yes.. i believe it was closer to a 12 pk job
