Iraq
i'll get to it. i'm a marine in iraq right now, and while over here, i've bought my dream car, a c5. its a 99' torch red coupe (A4). bought it stock from bob mr. corvette in naples florida. and since im waiting to come home, i bought some parts for it to be added on before i come home.
- bbk intake, gm performance mass air flow sensor, b&b tri flow exhaust, splitfire spark plugs, performance bushings, z06 calipers and rotars, chrome z06 wheels, new GY runflats, and a jet performance stage 1 pcm.
i realize i probably shouldnt have bought the jet chip after i had already bought i, but i'll se how it works anyway, there are a few good post out there about it.
my question is, are these parts a good start, in combination with each other, to make a faster yet still good milage vette? would you recommend anything else to go with these things besides headers and x-pipe?
also, anyone know a good tuner in NC or atlanta, GA area?
thanks for the replys in advance. damn it i cant wait to come home and drive it. i had an 84' before, and learned afterwards that its probably one of the worst years theyve made, and mine wasnt in good condition either, but i'll be damned if i didnt think it was the best car in the world. now i've got a 99'. cant imagine.

First of all ....
Welcome
Now on to the Mods...
Here is what I would have done..
Cold air intake of choice.. (I prefer the Vararam)
Rear end change to 3.42 gears
Those 2 mods will make your car feel like you added more than 50HP!!
Too bad you did not come here first to discuss the mods that give you the biggest bang for the buck..lots of folks fell for the MAF and Jet chip...stuff. Including me!!!
Exhaust is fine whatever you chose because that is for sound and bling.. Very little HP comes from that anyway..
Have fun with her... and Stay safe...
I agree with chuckster on his recommendation and his comment about the pcm and maf...I fell for the maf mod also
You should opt for some other tires instead of the run flats. They are noisey and hard ridding because of the sidewall construction.A nice set of headers, hi flow cats and an x-pipe will open up the exhaust for you. I like the Blackwing and cut the back of the fog light housing out and install ZO6 screens. The 3.42 rear end will really make a big SOTP feeling. Enjoy
I had a '84 before the C5...what a difference of day and night. My '84 was in great shape and ran strong..I guess I was lucky.

And thank you for what you do
Nice place and good people.
Its just north of Atlanta, near the old coke company/white water area.
But thats the only shop near that dyno tuning recommended.
But have heard good things about em.
After that, in the words of a character in "Platoon", "it's all gravy" You got a good start going.
Oh by the way, thanks for serving!!!!!
Your best bet would be to bank your money till you get a chance to do some research on your desired mods. Then you can wisely spend your well earned cash.
