I have a 97 C5 that is setting codes P0172 and P0175 fuel rich bank 1 and bank 2. Any ideas on what may be the cause for the rich fuel bank. I had a problem a few months ago with the air pump solenoid relay, but replaced the relay and the airpump is okay. Now the fuel rich code comes on each time I drive the car. When I checked the code the flag shows it as history so I reset the codes. The next time I drive the car the codes will come back. Any ideas???
Check for obstructions in the intake system, dirty filter or sucked something in. Clean the MAF. If that doesn't work, remove the EVAP line and check for fuel in the line. Check the EVAP line to see if it hold vacuum.
Is your car stock? I just went through this, and although mine ended up being an issue with the tune do to a problem that was present when it was tuned, I spent two months researching this issue. Look for a vacuum leak or obstruction in the intake system. Other thing it can be is a saturated EVAP canister, hopefully that is not what is causing it. Start with the simple stuff first.
Thanks, I will check the items mentioned in your post. My car is stock except for the TI exhaust. This problem just started a few weeks ago. I had a problem with the air pump solenoid relay and I corrected this by replacing the relay. Just after replacing the relay the P0172 and 0175 codes started showing up. Thanks for you suggestions.
