Default Installing a clutch and pilot bearing

Are there any tricks or things to watch for when I pull my pilot bearing and reinstall. I have the drivetrain and old clutch out, just dont want to install something wrong and have to go thru the process 2 times.
Any advice would be apprecitated.

Thanks
Steve

Default Help is here!

I just did my clutch and here are some old school tips.

On this engine you cannot use the old school way of removing a pilot bearing by packing grease in it and driving it out with an old input shaft. The crank has a soft plug in the end of it and this method would push out this soft plug and you will have a major oil pressure problem and leak. Just to clear that up.
To remove the bearing, you must use a pilot bearing puller. Our bearing is fairly small so my old pullers were too big so I finally found one at Advanced Parts, and the best part is they will loan it to you FREE! Just read and read the instructions carefully and take your time while extracting it. I trick I used was to heat up the crank flange with a heat gun before I pulled it, it does help.
To install it put the new bearing in the freezer for at least 2 hours. It will shrink enough to make a difference.. Lube it with oil then drive it in flat side out with a PILOT BRARING INSTALLING TOOL, you do have one right? I used a Snap-On version. Good luck!

You can install it with a socket of suitable size.

I agree.

Also get the blind hole puller from autozone...had mine out in less than a minute. Heres a pic.

Good luck.
