I had recall 04006c done at the dealership two weeks ago, without any problems until this morning. Get the "service steering lock", steering is fine, but the fuel shut off is active so I can't get anywhere!
It's a 2000 FRC, I thought some one mentioned pulling a fuse(#22)
wait awhile and reinstall it.............any help would be appricated
Read the Sticky Post as well as the numerous posts on this issue.
Many owners that have had the 4006C recall performed have reported similar problems. The likely cause is a faulty Harness K that does not send the correct CL state to the BCM (i.e. the BCM thinks the CL is locked), hence the BCM enters Fail Enable mode and instructs the PCM to cut fuel.
The recommended solution is replace the Harness K with the CLB. If you have GM replace the Harness K there's no guarantee it won't happen again.
I had the recall done on mine about a week ago and have been getting the "pull key wait 10 secs" on the DIC ever since. I ordered and installed the CLB, it did not solve the problem.

As Bib Guzzy says, you need to reset the BCM to clear the Fail Enable flag that generates that message, otherwise it will take something like 40 ignition cycles to clear it.
Also keep in mind that the "Pull Key" message is not only tied to the column lock system, but could be an indication of a Pass Key problem or an ignition cylinder issue.

Probably a faulty relay as suggested.
If you want to get it to the dealer without having to tow it, you can follow directions on the forum to remove the panel below the steering wheel, remove the Harness K, and plug the actuator back in. As long as your actuator was working before the recall, this should at least let you drive the car.
Yep, that was it, a bad relay! looks like they installed a new k-kit also.
Thanks to all who offered help, just didn't find what I needed in the
"stickey" section.........
If by bad relay you mean the K Harness....it will happen again...get a CLB ..remove the K Harness and install the CLB...you are driving on "borrowed time" without one....
I agree but when it happens to you for the first time you don't know what to think.
It has happened to me as well as many others. I just wished that I had listened to other members before the column lock issue had me stranded. The GM fix and a faulty K harness had my vette dead in the driveway. Glad yours is fixed. Maybe others will see the light.
fwiw, I had the 'service column lock' code show up the other day at the gas station. Car would start but die if I tried to move it, and the wheel was not locked. In an act of despiration, I went into the gas station, bought a pair of pliers, removed the negative battery terminal for a few seconds, then after reconnecting it, pressed the lock&unlock button until the horn sounded once....
the code was gone and the car has run fine ever since. Anyone else had this experience or tried a similar solution? After that experience, I'm going to pick up the kit you guys are mentioning asap, tho...
