Default break squeak HELP!!!

my 03 brakes squeaked pretty much right after I bought it new in July 2003. I delt with it for about 900 miles thinking it would stop. It did not. I posted a ? on the forum back then asking about this and was told by a few members to take the car out and stand on the brakes a few times. This did not work. Shortly after I gave the car to a family member in another State. I now have the car back with about 20K miles and it's still doing it. I called Tom Jumper in Atlanta and was informed by a service advisor their is no fix for this and GM has advised dealers they will not accept a warranty request to replace the pads. Does anyone have any idea's short of removing the front brakes totally. This is driving me crazy and I do feel I should have to spring for parts/labor for new pads, as the car is still under warranty. This car does not have the Z51 Package. Thanks

Try doing a good bed-in cycle on the pads and rotors: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...contents.shtml

Before you do the bed in process, there are several things to do that probably will help with the squeek. Option one: get a set of the GM ceramic pads from a forum dealer - very quiet and don't hardly dust at all. Option two: if you have plenty of pad material left and want to stay with the pads you have, a complete maintenance is in order. Pull calipers and clean with brake clean spray to remove any junk. Lube caliper slider pins with hi temp silicone. Check the tension springs that hold the pads in place to make sure that they have enough tension and or are not broken. Bad spring can cause a huge squeek. Inspect the pads for cracks or delamination of the pad from the backing plate. Scuff the friction surface of the pads up with sand paper to break the glaze - go till they are not shiny. Do the same on the friction surface of the rotor using a very fine emory paper to brake the glaze on both sides. Clean rotor with brake clean spray. Reassemble using hi temp silicone lube where the pad backing plate contacts the caliper bridge, where the caliper piston touches the pad and on the other side where the caliper bosses contact the pad backing plate. Follow pad bedding process previously mentioned. You will not have any noise. The whole process should not take more than an hour in your garage.
