I've had this happen twice now. As I'm driving along in a straight line all of a sudden active handling pops up and the right rear tire feels as if it is breaking loose or something. When this has occured I did not hit any bumps or potholes, it just occurs out of nowhere. I've also had a issue with my cruise control. Out of nowhere it just kicks off when engaged. Could these problems be related? Is something getting ready to give out?
When AH or Traction Control activates the cruise is kicked off. You may have a noisy signal coming from one of the wheel speed sensors. The noise can be caused by poor connections. I would look at the connections to the right rear speed sensor and trace them back to the EBCM and I would also check all of the EBCM grounds to make sure there are no loose connectors or corroded connectors.
GM had a similar problem on their 2002 and newer trucks/SUVs with Stabilitrack. The vehicle would go into traction control mode and almost shut the truck down and then would go away for awhile. It turned out it was related to the ABS problem they were having on other trucks that only had ABS. The sensors had to be pulled from the axle housings and cleaned since a lot of rust had built up around them due to driving in the salt/sand rich rust belt.
I think I have the problem when I hit 70 on the road active handling activates and wont let me accelerate. So it is probally a wheel sensor or a ground? Mine is a 2002
