Default I Give Up, Tail light LED Question???

I have a set of the Halo style tail lights, all led. They keep flashing rapidly, so I got 4 resistors to equal the load out. The problems I'm having is
1: I don't know which of the three wires on my tail lights I need to hook
into -brown, black or yellow for the driver's side or brown, black or
green for the passenger's side.
2: Another possible cure would be a "led compatible" flasher module, but, I
don't know if a C5 has one or what kind,or where, it would be.
I've tried to find the answers to my own questions, but, I'm having no luck.
Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jason

does the backside of the lights have the large flasher module on each individual light? my "halo" tails do and they dont flash fast.

i know some guys on ebay were selling the halo lights with only 2 flasher modules for all 4 lights and that was causing some guys to have problems.

JDMVETTE,
Yes, my halos have 1 flasher module per light. I put a post in General as well, so I'll try that advice first. Hopefully that fixes the problem. Thank-You for responding. Jason

Here's what I did to fix mine from hyper-flashing. On the outer rear tail light on both the left and right sides I added another tail light socket and bulb. You use the brake light/turn signal wire and the ground wire, fold the brown tail light wire out of the way and don't hook it up. Just use quick connectors or solder to the existing wires. Put a bulb in the socket, put some tin foil around the bulb or spray paint it black (so you won't see it when it's on) and use a tie strap to secure it to the harness out of the way. Next plug the LED lights in the original socket. The added light fixes the problem and if the light burns out you still have turn signals they will just go back to the fast flash mode until you replace the burned out bulb. My LED lights are the same as the ones that jdmvette has and they have a flasher module for each light. I don't know why some of us have the fast flash problem and some don't. I have a 97 so maybe the earlier years (97/98) with the lower amp output alternators have something to do with it. Mine seemed to be voltage sensitive. With the car off they would flash fast but with the car running and a battery that just came off of the trickle charger they would work fine. After using the air, radio, lights, ect... for a while the battery voltage drops and the lights would flash to fast again. Bottom line the added bulb in each side fixed it. Hope this helps, I almost sent mine back but now that they're working the way they are supposed to I wouldn't trade them for anything! Kudo's to jdmvette for recommending them to me.

that's a great idea to fix the flasher problem!

where did you pick up the extra set of bulb sockets?

I just so happens that my brother is a retired GM tech and he had a couple in his parts bin! I'm sure you could use the old style sockets that took the turn in 1157 bulbs also. They can be picked up from most parts stores. Also worth noting is you only have to put one on each side not two. Once they are zip tied to the existing harness and the light is put back in you'd never know they were there!

I can always count on a Forum member to come thru for me. I'll give SUPRFUN's suggestion a try. It sounds reasonable. Thanks to all.

I found my mistake...........the resistor manufacturer suggeted I use one resistor per tail light. I NOW have one resistor on the driver's side and one on the passenger side. Everything works perfectly now. Thanks again to all the members who helped me. You guys ROCK. Jason

Just a thought.... Why is fast flashing so bad in the first place???

Fast flashing is simply there to indicate a bulb out.. But LED rarely burn out.. So what if they flash fast?

They still work and flash when the turn signal is on right?

The fast flashing isn't steady, it's random and intermintent. It made me feel like a chump. But, all is well now. Time for a test drive, the weather is descent today. Jason
