Default Vacuum line's purpose?

At the back of the intake manifold, next to the electric plug, is a small vacuum line. Does this line go to the air pump? The reason I ask, is I just removed the air pump, and it's myriad of hoses, and wondered should I plug this at the manifold, or just at the disconnected end where it plugged into the air pump?

The answer to your question is yes and no. If you have an early C5, YES the line off the back of the manifold goes to the air pump. It also goes to the HVAC vent damper controller. If you disconnect that vacuum hose you will loose at a minimum control of your HVAC vent ducts. If you have a late model C5 the vacuum only controls the HVAC stuff! Tha air pump is electronically controlled instaed of vacuumed controlled.

On your 2002 Z06 you will have a vacuum reservoir tank in the right hand fender well that looks like the one below. That vacuum line on the rear of the intake goes to this tank as shown in the bottom of the photo. The next line up is the one that goes to the A.I.R. air pump solenoid. The solenoid is located inside the fender well just behind the right side hood latch. You should have plugged the vacuum hose at the pump when you removed the pump. If you didn't you can plug it here next to the vacuum tank but don't plug the hose at the manifold or your HVAC controls will not longer work.
