I am thinking of adding long tube headers to my 04 coupe. I am not a fan of loud noise inside the car so I would like to get some idea of how much the sound level will increase if I add the headers. The exhaust is currently stock and I get more noise from the runflats than anything else. I am mostly concerned about the sound level while cursing I spend a lot of time on the highway running between 55 and 75 and a steady drone inside the car at highway speed would drive me crazy. As a means of comparison, would the LT headers make more noise than the runflats at highway speeds?
It's really going to depend on your catback system. The headers just amplify the sound from the catback. Borla stingers are loud. Exotic Vette sells sound/heat insulation. Just got mine, I'll be installing it soon.
I have GHL Bullets on my car & love the sound, not intrusive at all in my opinion. I just rode in a 2006 Z51 coupe with B&B catback and LT headers, the car was no louder than mine with the catback only. The only time the car really "woke up" was when we were on the gas hard ! The headers did not really amplify the sound that much..My .02
Keep the stock catback or the Z06 Ti catbacks if you do not like loud noise.
I'm with EG on this(usually he's a little extreme, but that's another thread) When I first got my LG Pro LTs, I still had the stock mufflers. It was just slightly louder at idle, and had a nice growl during acceleration. Now, I have GHL Bulets and it rumbles nicely at idle, really screams at WOT, and has an annoying drone between 1300- 1550 RPM. Unfortunately this is 60-72 MPH in 6th. If you keep the stock cat-back, I think you'll be pleased. LG told me I would probably only gain 5 hp with a good cat-back versus stock. This was on top of the 30 the LTs (w/ cats and an LG tune) got me.

I have Stainless Works long tubes and a now offroad x pipe that had cats. I recommend doing that with z06 Ti exhaust, if you want it a hair louder, gut the cats. thats what i did, i have video's of before and after gutting the cats. and i had no drone with either.
I still have the stock muffles behind LT's High Flow Cats, X-pipe, Vararam and a Thunder cam (111LSA) and the exhaust note is deadly quite. If I had to judge, I would say that the LT's added about 50% more auidable noise to the exhaust. The cam added Lope with is what draws most peoples attention.
The car is still very quite in relation to all other cars pushing 400RWHP. In fact I have a few people ask me at the dyno what the mods are, mainly because the exhaust is so quite. Hope this helps...

Same setup, same drone. If i use light throttle under a load it becomes a buzzing. Oddly enough, it doesn't do it when exhaust is cold (not car/engine, actual exhaust itself)
