TTT, My understanding is you have to remove the pulley to get the pump out of the bracket. Can anybody else confirm this?
Chris
Been a while since I've done it myself, but yes, I think you do have to remove the pulley to get the pump off. Just use a pulley puller from almost any auto parts store and you'll be OK.
The problem with the factory pulley is that it is solid and that it is nearly impossible to access the retaining bolts. I went with a spoked aftermarket model like this one
this made it alot easier I have had the front dress of mycar torn down 4 or 5 times and this made my life alot easier not to metion everytime I try to take a factory pulley off it breaks

I just purchased one of your pulleys for my corvette, had the pulley break midway through 3rd gear and cut the PS line hitting the slicks with power steering fluid. Can I tell you it wasn't a fun ride.
You can remove the pulley/pump as one assembly. I did not use a special puller to swap in my chrome bracket. You can get to the bolts, they are a pain, but you can get to them.

I recently bought one of these pulleys and tried to install it today. Unfortunately the inside tolerances of the shaft hole is too tight and shaved some of the aluminum material until the install tool eventually broke. Of course I couldn't see what was actually happening until I removed the install tool then it all became clear. At this point my new $187.00 pump and $100 pulley are NFG unless you have some way to remove it. Right now I'm out a bunch of money not including tool rental cost and replacement of the broken tool parts. I'm going to call Synister tomorrow and see if anything can possibly be done about this.
