I Have A 2003, I Have Not Noticed Any Signs Of Oil Loss/burn Do All Ls1 Motors Require Catch Can?

I believe folks are using them with engine mods such as cam and heads.

I thought only the pre 2002 motors had oil burning problems. I think they had some loose rings in the motor which allowed blow by, especially at high rpms and slow speeds. Like cruising through town at 25 miles an hour in first gear.

I swapped the intake on my 2003 to a Z06 airbox and did find some oil in the throttle body. When I get the chance I am putting a catch can on for safety sake.....

I drain a couple of ounces out of my 04 vert's catch can every couple of months. Normal breathing for an LS1.

My '97 uses no oil between changes and does not require a "catch can".
I think it is so awful that a car this great has such a flaw for those years with the problem. Glad they have eliminated the problem.

97-99 are safe, The problem of oil consumption appeared in some 2000 models and a lot of 2001 models. GM corrected the problem in 2002
