I put on a used Vortex cold air system and now my outside temp. always read 69 degrees, it's over 90 degrees outside. I checked and found that (what I think is the plug in) on the driver's side lower part of the radiator shroud was disconected. I plgged it back in, but it still reads 69 degrees. Will it reset itself after I drive a while?, I drove around the block, but still 69.... Any good advise guys???
I don't know if this will help, but my outside temp gets stuck sometimes too.
I usually just turn the A/C on and then off, then on again, play with the temp control **** for a second and it will start adjusting to the real temp outside.
Pushing buttons and turning ***** randomly solves about 80% of the problems I come accross these days.
Yes.. Assuming you do have the connector seated, it could be dirty contacts.. Excessive resistance will cause false readings. Try to remove, clean, re-install (a few times if necessary), see if that clears it.
Thanks, I will try it again. The little thing it plugs into just looks like a plastic part with a pointed nub! Does that sound right?
Yes that's the sensor. There are certain parameters that have to be met before the car will beginning reading the sensor ie. driving above 16 MPH for 10 miles... That was an example I forget the real parameters but it sounds like you didn't meet the parameters on your around the block cruise. Take it for a good drive and see what happens...
If you look real clsoe you will vind two indentical plugs, I have never found out what the other one is nor does my dealer know, but when I did it one worked for the the tem sensor and one didn't, so if one doesn't try the other one.
