Default Fuel Gauge Help

I recently installed a racetronics intank fuel pump as part of a supercharger upgrade to my 98 vette. The gauge will read only from full to one half. It won't read below one half. Other than pulling the pump back out to see if the float is binding, are there any other things that I should look for or try in order to correct this.

Thanks
Dave

You know that there are 2 fuel pumps, 2 fuel sensors and 2 fuel tanks in the C5. One pumps gas from the right tank to the left (driver's side) tank. Another pumps from the left tank to the engine and if you have a early year C5, there is a return fuel line.

The left tank is supposed to stay full. The fuel gage uses a "program" to assess the amount of fuel left based on the readings of the 2 sensors.

Now, does your fuel pump have a float with it? And which tank did you install it in? We need more info to help you.

Default Thanks for the response

I used the A&A PS1 kit for my car. It came with the one pump that goes into the drivers side tank. The gauge was working perfectly before we made the switch. Yes, it did have a float. I'm hoping that it is just binding up. However, I have seen comments on other sites about needing to file certain contacts in the pump. VERY leery of anything like that.

Thanks Again,
Dave

I forgot, it is an early C5. It was built in Feb. 98

I'm at a loss to advise you. I would check with A&A for troubleshooting. I understand he is a class act. Good luck.

If you suspect binding, try riding over some railroad tracks. This freed one of my tire pressure sensors once.

Default Works - sort of

We pulled the fule pump (drivers side), and the float was stuck on the pickup hose. That is exactly what Andy at A&A told us was probably wrong. However, now I am getting code 463 for fule level sensor one - hi voltage. Any idea what could causing this?? Or what I should check/replace. The gauge sort of comes and goes. It will be working one minute, and then fall to E, and than a few minutes later it might start reading again.

Any thoughts??
