Actually, the computer learns absolutely nothing at WOT. It only learns at idle and part throttle. The oxygen sensors are not accurate enough to use in power enrichment mode.

They will be able to learn at WOT only after they start using wide band oxygen sensors.

i guess this is one for c4/c5 specialist or c5-tech. because i had knock retard due to improper gapping of my plugs (not installed by myself), and after i corrected the gap, i had it on a dyno. even though i wasn't showing any knock retard anymore, the computer was still holding back the timing. after resetting the fuel tables through a tech 2, i drove the car hard for 50 miles, brought it back and the computer was able to advance the timing. wouldn't that be an example of a car learning timing at WOT? :boxing

Sounds about right for an auto. M6's dyno around 305 or so.

Sounds right for a stock auto, but he isn't stock. Shouldn't the Donaldson do anything? I'm not familiar with the Donaldson, but the Pro Flow+ cold air system definitely shows noticeable gains at the dyno. The Vette Docs have the before and after dyno slips on their site. Is the Donaldson not cold air?

Also, I am pretty sure that I have seen the PLII show some gains on the dyno.

Keep in mind this is a 2001. Why does that matter? The 2001 airbox is much less restrictive than past years. In fact, the entire breathing path is much less restrictive(airbox, bigger MAF housing, higher flow intake). The breathing efficiency was improved so much, that GM actually used a less aggressive cam for 2001 which reduces hp(more than made up for by breathing improvements so hp is actually slightly higher) but increase tq.

If GM had not made the breathing improvements but instead used only the less aggressive cam, you would see a 12 hp drop and a 12 tq increase. Conversley, 2001 breathing improvements alone leaving the original 97-00 cam would have seen about a 12 hp and tq increase.

Too bad we don't have variable valve timing

A stock 2001 should not see big improvements with an airbox but should see much better gains with cam alone than previous years. :U

the air box was improved till '02 for Z06's i thought. it is true they did use a larger maf in 2001, but i saw 12 rwhp improvement with just a vortex on a dyno. i also am not as famliar with donaldson's, but i am sure that there is a gain in removing the restriction off of the air box which is still quite restrive vs. most.

I didn't say no improvement. I said not as much improvement.

That's true to a point, but when you are putting big money into mods, you really do need to see it validated with numbers; be they dynos or ETs.

When talking about +/- 10hp, or +/- .3 sec ET, the change may be too subtle to be detected and need to be truly quantified numerically. Sure these are subtle changes taken individually, but when looking at the final outcome of a modded car, it's nice to know what mods yielded what gains.

TexasRedY2K, is right the torque number looks great, i bet there is some kr happening on wide open throttle. did you have any dips in the horsepower and torque graphs?

The PCM doesn't learn your driving habits! Where did this come from?

Let me start by saying I love my '01 C5's handling and it exhibits more power on the street than I'll ever need. However, I'm disappointed with the results of my first dyno yesterday: 291rwhp 318rwtq. Seems awfully low to me. OK, I confess. The dyno was probably the first time to see redline in her 6k miles! Is that the problem? I'm not driving her hard enough? A stock '02 A4 dynoed right after me with virtually the same results: 292rwhp 317 rwtq. Shouldn't I be getting something more from the Blackwing and Powerloader II? Any comments are appreciated.
Thanks
Jim
Mine only dynoed a high of 285/295 with a home ported TB, !MAF Screen, !Airlid, and gutted pre-cats. Yet, I went 12.92 @ 105.29 without the gutted cats. I have since added a small cam and jumped to 315/313. Dynos are good tuning tools, but the track is ALL that matters. I don't know of anyone winning trophies and/or money for having the highest dyno, but they have won trophies and/or money for running the fastest or most consistent down the track.

Shhh... don't tell this to import owners. DYNO NUMBERS MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

Go to the drag strip and lets look at your trap speeds. I would guess 106-108mph.
You may have called my bud, Glen5839, a bench racer, but you are definitely number in my book after these two statements!

"shhh...don't tell the imports"
