Let me start by saying I love my '01 C5's handling and it exhibits more power on the street than I'll ever need. However, I'm disappointed with the results of my first dyno yesterday: 291rwhp 318rwtq. Seems awfully low to me. OK, I confess. The dyno was probably the first time to see redline in her 6k miles! Is that the problem? I'm not driving her hard enough? A stock '02 A4 dynoed right after me with virtually the same results: 292rwhp 317 rwtq. Shouldn't I be getting something more from the Blackwing and Powerloader II? Any comments are appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

Do a PCM reset then drive it hard, and try the dyno again. The PCM learns your driving habits and adjusts the controls to follow them. If the only time you get in to it is on the dyno don't expect great results. Drive it like a Vette.
I don't think that's bad. Remember that automatics have more drivetrain loss than manuals. If you use 18% as your drivetrain loss, you're at about 355 HP. IMO, you'll *never* see any more than about 5-8 HP from *any* air box by itself regardless of the inflated claims you may see. As far as comparing a stock car to a stock car with only an airbox, I think the difference will be negligible on a dyno unless you put it on/take it off the same car. Comparing two different cars with only a difference in airboxes probably won't show much of a reliable difference due to the differences car to car, engine to engine that naturally exist. You've got production tolerances, differences in gasoline used, differences in oils, tranny fluids, operating temps at the time of the run, etc.
As for the powerloader, I'm less familiar with that but I think the consensus is that it improves the A4's shift response and gets rid of the throttle lag on the A4 which is a big thing. I think the general consensus is that you don't really get any more overall power from it though.
Also, if you are only talking about 5-10 HP, two different stock engines can easily be different by that much just due to production tolerances.

That's actually VERY good for an A4 C5. My 97 C5 A4 had CNC ported cylinder heads, stock cam, k&n intake, ported MAF, Corsa Indy exhaust, and Yank torque converter, and it dynoed 310 RWHP. So if you're getting 291 RWHP without any major mods, you're doing very well.
actually that does sound low. my dad's 2000 dynoed 293 rwhp stock. am i the only person that noticed he had a powerloader? i thought that steve's programming was also good for a few extra a ponies. i would expected this car to dyno around 300-303 rwhp based on those mods and what i have seen. assuming a 20% driveline loss that barely is 349.2 flywheel driving it hard will change the car's performance. the harder you drive the more agressive the pcm will be with timing at WOT. before you dyno, try this next time put 50 miles before you dyno, and put at least 2-3 gallons of gas in it. and then drive it hard with lots of WOT. then do a dyno and i think you may find those results a lot more pleasant. also did you have any knock retard on the current dyno?
My 99 with the mods in my sig(and dyno'd hp&tq) dyno'd this past sat and went to the strip afterwards. 13.33@109mph with a 2.73 A4  :D :D All I need are 3.42 gears and a t/c for the 12's. The dyno was a Superflow.
Thanks John :D :D It was real nice to finally meet you :yesnod: And thanks for the roastbeef sandwich! :D It probably put a couple of pounds on me and slowed me down    I could have been in the 12's except for those 20 lbs I gained HaHaHa I will C5'ya at 75/80
