Where is the revers lights switch and how are they activated on a manual? I have a 00 FRC and was told whaen I bought it the trans had been replaced with a Z06 trans. Could they have missed hooking something up? I have no rev lights at all.

I don't have a manual but I looked it up in my 98 GM service manual and the switch is located on the side of the transmission on the passenger side. It mentions having to remove the intermediate exhaust pipe.
Things to check first:
The bulbs.
Minifuse # 21 from the instrument panel electrical center.
Micro Relay # 38 from the underhood electrical center.

It's almost always a problem with the switch (they go bad, I replaced mine at 10K miles), and sometimes when the switch fails it takes the fuse with it (in my case).

If the switch is bad they are cheap (12 bucks).
I agree. The trans that comes in the FRCs and the Z06s have this switch in the same location. Essentially these two trannys are the same, with the biggest differences being in the gear ratios.

Nope. Depending on where you live and which parts houses are there, you might try Airtex # 1S5110, Standard Motor products # LS205 or Delco # 14069600. These brands range from about $9.00 to about $11.25 in that order. I'm kinda partial to the Standard brand but if you have a supplier that carries Borg-Warner brand, that's another good brand too. I would tend to stay away from the "brand-X' brands unless you are personally comfortable with them.

I have the same issue, how do you test a fuse/mini-fuse without replacing it? Or is it most likely the switch and I should just go ahead and replace that first?
My reverse lights work with the keyless entry, just not with the transmission.

That was the same condition I had when my switch went. The Approach Light circuit is separate from the reverse switch circuit. Also in my case, the fuse in the reverse switch circuit also blew since the switch failed and shorted against the tranny housing, so I had to replace the switch and the fuse. These switches commonly fail.
To check the fuse, simply pull it and visually look to see if the fuseable section is melted away - it will be obvious. If you want to be real sure, just put an ohm meter across the fuse and verify it's a 0 ohms. The fuse for the switch circuit is Minifuse 21 in the passeger footwell fuse panel. Micro relay 38 in the underhood panel is for the approach lights which as you noted is working fine.
Thanks. Picked up an Autozone switch for $9.99, replaced, no luck. Then checked the relay and minifuse. Minifuse was blown. It's possible that it was just the minifuse all along, but at least I have a new switch and a back-up OEM switch. Thanks again for all the help.

Chances are the switch failed and caused the short that blew the fuse. You're better off with the new switch in.
