Perhaps you should buy a manual for your car and educate yourself instead of demanding a definite answer from the forum members. The manufacturer has already specified the fluids for your vehicle, when in doubt, default to the factory settings.

English and metric conversions.
Please refer to “Recommended Fluids and Lubricants”
in the Index for more information.

Cooling System . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 12.6 quarts (11.9 L)
Engine Oil with Filter . . . . . . . . . 6.5 quarts (6.1 L)
Fuel Tank . . . . . . . . . . . . 18.5 U.S. gallons (70.0 L)
Manual Transmission

Wheel Nut Torque . . . . . . . . . . 100 lb-ft (140 N·m)
All capacities are approximate. When adding, be sure
to fill to the appropriate level, as recommended in this
manual. Recheck fluid level after filling.

not really demanding, but asking what everyone suggest, im aware that mobil is from factory...but that doesnt nesscarily make it the best. if what the factory makes is always best then we wouldnt want to put exhausts or tune it etc.... anyways if anyone wants to help with pertinent info please respond..thanks

Hey, you wanted "how much".....I gave you "how much" straight from the manual! I wouldn't really deviate from that much.....other than that, you're not going to get a definitive answer, because people have this silly thing called....oh what is it...ah, yes.....personal preference! I can narrow it down to three, though, based on the numerous threads I have read on this: Royal Purple, Red Line and Amsoil. Can't go wrong with any of them.

Hope that helps!

Engine: Mobil 1 5w-30
Trans: Dexron III. .
Differential: GM's brand 75w-90 w/ 4 oz additive for limited -slip diff.

This is from the owners manual. These are the fluids your car came with when purchased brand new. This is your definite answer. Now.. Do you want to use something different? Is one brand better than another?? You can probably do a search on this forum and find 100 threads on which lubricants are best and 1000 opinions in these threads. Regular maintanence is the key. Not the brand. If it makes you feel better to spend more $$$ on Royal Purple or some other brand, go do it. Waste of money in my opinion, but hey its your money not mine.

Engine: Mobil 1 or any good synthtic
Trans: .Forget the Dexron stuff use good sythetic ATF oil for best results
Differential: Synthitic Gear oil 75-w90, has limted slip agent already in.

Here we go with opinions again... And there are hundreds of opinions.. Synthetic ATF can cause excessive clutch pack slippage in our 4l60e Automatic Transmission, causing high temps or transmission failure. Been there and done that one. NO SYNTHETICS in your trans! I learned the hardway and found out I screwed up after reading others having the same problems.. But hey... thats 1 opinion out of 1 thousand. Some people praise sythetic stuff in the transmission. Oh yes !! its the Best!! Stick with the Dexron III..

Then something else is going on with these trans and diffs, and not caused by the sythtics fluids.

The track vette ( MN6 trans ) and my tow vehical we beat the living chit out of the trans and diffs. No problems what so ever with M1 Sythetics and Gear oil and actully work better and shift smoother. Yes I change my vettes trans and diff fluids every 4 weekends on the track and the tow vehicals trans and diff twice a year.

Both track vette and tow vehical have trans coolers, trans fluid pumps and in line filters to remove any possible debris, which non is found on fluid changes.

My wifes vette, an auto, no problems with synthetics. changed when
she got the car 18 months ago.

High temps in auto transmissions are not a result of synthtic trans oil but most likley caused by poor cooling or poor circulation of the trans fluid up to and back from the trans cooling radiator. An aftermarket trans fluid pump will help this problem.

An other possibilty with synthetics in autos, is that a synthtic fluid as too good of a lubracant causing slippage.

It is your car, just watch for heat issues.

Pick anyone's opinion and go with it. What is the worst or best that can happen? If you are looking for an absolute you are not going to find it.

Exactly right, and there inlies my reasoning regarding factory fluids. Unless there is someone out there that can tell me they burned up a motor, tranny, or rear end by using the chevy recommended fluids that came with the car.

1. AMSOIL ATF 4 quarts for MN6 - will only take 3.5-3.75 quarts

2. AMSOIL 5w30 Synthetic 6.5 quarts per change

3. AMSOIL 75w90 Severe Gear Lube SVG - 2 quarts - will only take 1.5-1.75 quarts - already has limited slip fluid added

4. Buy 2 hand pumps while you are at it. 1 for trans. 1 for diff.

I did burn up a A4 with DexIII ....... but it also saw lots of hot track use.

It now has DexVI in it.

I will be switching to synthetic ATF (Amsoil) because lots of guys run their cars hard without issues. If the synthetic has the proper friction modifiers it is not going to ruin the clutches. Benifits of the synthetic is less breakdown at high temps, less foaming and no varnish deposits.

Also Rodney at RPM who built my tranny gave me his blessing to go synthetic.
