Default which cam ????

I have A 2000 A4 with B@B bullets,Lt headers,Vara ram,Tsp tune.I am swapping 273's for 342's I would also like to do a cam and converter any suggestions what would be a good choice with the stock heads

How radical are you looking to go with the cam? For the T/C with 3.42 gears Yank SS3200 or the Yank SS3600.

I don't want to go so radical that it ruins the idol and street manners of the car and I have to worry about the piston to valve clearance but I also don't want to go with a real mild cam.

Since your in Texas LG Motorsports. I'm running a LG G5X3 cam in my A4, did not need to worry about piston to valve clearance but it's a very big cam. I would call Lou at LG Motorsports and let them know what your looking for in the way of performance. Once you give them the info, they will suggest something for your application. Good company to deal with and they will stand behind their products.

My factory LS1 heads, changed the springs and pushrods. I also have all the bolt-ons. Currently 391rwhp. The increase was substantial.

Glad to help. There is still more in my car, we chose to tune on the conservitive side and the 3.73 gears hurt on a dyno. Have run at the track 11.62 at just under 120mph with this set-up. And that's in the HOT HUMID crappy South Florida air.
