Default Help!!! Telescopic Steering Wheel problems

My telescopic steering wheel just quit working the other day. I've looked in the owners manual, hoping to find some info about a fuse or something, but all I could find was some really vague info. Any ideas?

Do a search. I know there is a trick to getting it to work again. Something like tap the level forward six times to engage it again.

If not I have the part number to the steering telescope that needs replacing.

PM if you need it. I can fax it over if you like.

Cheers!!

IF you have to replace the actuator or the motor, let me know first. I've got both parts left over after my rebuilding a 2001 and I've also got an extra telescopic switch(don't ask why I have extras).

I'm guessing my 2001 parts are the same as your 2004 parts (we'd check part numbers), and I can save you a TON of $$$ over what the stealership is gonna want for those parts -

Hopefully, you have a simple fix. If not, or if you need help diagnosing your problem or swapping parts WITHOUT removing the entire steering column (as recommended by the book), PM me and I'll be glad to help.

Default Problem Is Fixed, Thanks To You Guys

I conducted a search as you suggested, and learned more about the "trick" of pushing the lever forward 7 times. My problem was immediately solved. I can't thank you guys enough for helping me out.

Hey, Officer (it pays to be polite to cops ), did you search this forum? I tried various searches and couldn't find the telescopic wheel trick. Would appreciate some clarification on pushing the lever seven times.

Thanks.

This is where I found it last night. Tried it, and it worked.

I believe that basically sets your soft stops back to that actual hard stops. You can do it for your seats as well.
