Default Need new frame rail

I bent the frame rail on the passenger's side front just enough that my passenger's side headlight won't sit perfectly flush (off by about two tenths of an inch at two of the opposing corners) when the lights are closed and the bumper has an upwards dip on that side one 1 full inch.

I'm sure I'll need to remove the bumper, replace the frame rail on that side, which is bent upwards somewhat, remold the dent out of that urethane bumper, and then put it all back together.

Anybody know where I can buy the frame rail(s)? What about a replacement bumper if I can't remold it (e.g. push the dent out)? Any replacement front bumpers out there with the LT style underspoiler as one peice? That would be cool looking. Any FAQs out there on replacing the frame rails.

I'm a dumbass. I'll be more careful next time.

Looking at Ecklers I believe the right term for what I need to replace is:

Bumper Impact Skid Plate

At a price of $270 in parts. OUCH! Bet I won't be able to pull the dent out of the bumper and will have to replace it as well. This SUCKS!

GM Sells frame quarters. Now you may need more parts then you think. The inside wheel well is glued on to the frame. So you can not take the current one off and repace it. Need a new piece.

Now GM standards are +/- 1/8" for being straight. that is up to a 1/4" varience side to side and up and down. and that is considared straight. ( resons why you dont count the number of screws when lowering your car - stilll uneven)

Depending on the how your bumper is damaged, 3M makes are resine ( sp?) for the composit bumpers. Plus they can be heated up and reformed. sanded, primed and painted.

So you may be looking at some serious body shop time.

I got my body parts for htp://www.corvetteracebodies.com

and the splitter is a seperate piece that attaches as they need to be replaced often. they get damaged

and yes I had a rear 1/4 frame section replaced. rear fenders, rear facia. rear inner tub, clutch and clutch housing and torque tube.

It may be more work or acctully less work then you think. Take it too a corvette body shop ( non-dealer)

Good Luck

ps if you think $270 is a lot for parts, get a good grip of something when you look at other prices.
