sorry I tried that but but only found reference to having done it. didn't find "How To"

You take off the cover of the air box and leave the air filter totally exposed.
Place a large zip tie around each end of the airbox and the air fiilter to keep the filter in place and snug ( ensuring no air bypasses it)

As above but if you can't find that big of a zip tie you can put a couple together.

If you look at the link, the OEM filter is used with the mod. That is how it was originally done.

BTW, it's not a bad idea to also do the "performance" hood seal mod at the same time to keep water off the filter during washings or outings in the rain.
