Sounds great!

As part of the decision process for picking out a new set of pipes for my new Vette, I got the opportunity to ride along with a few of the forum members Saturday. Dang! The list of stuff to do just got longer. :D
Saturday I had lunch with NastyC5, DawsC5, Nanoosy, VetteRdstr (sans Vette), rzuff and Fun4JT. We met for lunch, talked cars, racing and insurance for a bit and then went outside for a few spins around the block. Man, this was way better than going to Magic Mountain.
The first trip out was with Nanoosy, right before lunch. I’m sure you’ve seen the signature on his posts and let me tell you, pictures don’t do his interior justice, it’s wicked cool! Nanoosy’s Corsa Indys with pro tips look sweet and sound mean. He has one slick ride. He’s moded the car out more since the last pics were taken and it looks sharp.
After lunch we walked out to the parking lot to a row of waiting Vettes (I brought my digital camera, but I’m a moron and forgot to take pictures, grr). The closest car was the NastyC5. I’m not sure where the Nasty comes from but I’d bet it’s part under the hood and part in the trunk, the car is awesome (HRE 547’s, cross drilled rotors, and a super-trick sound system custom installed in the trunk). The thing I came to hear, however, was the B&B PRT exhaust and hear it I did. :D
Rzuff's black Vette had the Borla XR1 with carbon fiber tips and also a sweet stereo. The car was lowered with the F45 suspension on it (a stiff, but not harsh, ride). Reed also showed up at the All Corvette autocross on Sunday and demonstrated his suspension setup by easily besting my times around the course.

Next in line was Fun4JT (heck, fun for anyone I’d wager). His exhaust was a piece of art, custom formed pipes with Bassani tunable mufflers (I think I’m remembering it correctly). That car looks and sounds mean, no doot aboot it. JT strapped on his 5 point harness and I started looking around for something to grab. JT eased out the clutch, then spun the tires from a rolling start in first and second. Yee haw!
The final car was DawsC5. Dawson has the A&A exhaust mod with a cross pipe as well as a powerloader. Dawson’s automatic pulls hard and the exhaust mod is a great improvement over stock, well worth the price of admission. If you want a quick, easy improvement to the sound of your exhaust, this gives you great bang for you buck.:yesnod:
So, now that I’ve gotten a chance to listen to the exhaust systems, I’ve decided that I want:
• Colored letters for my bumper
• A new air intake/filter
• Z51 springs
• Hotchkis sway bar
• New shocks
• Some new wheels
• Better tires
• RK Sport hood
• A lowering kit
• New seats
• A 5 point harness
• Frame savers
• Rocker rails
• Euro Tail lights
• …
So what about the exhaust? Well, this is a tough decision, but I am narrowing it down. The motivation for the exhaust upgrade is part acoustic, part visual, all aesthetic. For the sound, my favorite was the Borla XR-1, a good throaty sound that was loud, but not too loud. The B&B PRT was second and the Corsa Indy’s were a close third. The difference between the Corsas and the B&Bs to me was the B&Bs had a bit deeper note but the Corsas have the great popping on deceleration. My wife and I prefer the look of 4 pipes to 2, so we’ve narrowed it down to the B&Bs with oval tips or the Corsa Indys with pro tips. It’s a tough choice because I love the way all of the them sound. My favorite look, however, is the Corsa Indys with the pro-tips, so that will probably be the tie breaker. I have to wait a month before the purchase, so I need to mull it over a little more. Decisions, decisions….
(thanks again to Nasser, JT, Perry, Steve, Reid and Dawson for joining me for lunch!)
