I am trying todecide which way to go, TTS, FLP, DRM or TPIS. A friend can get me DRM 1 5/8 for 900 Jet Hot coated. How do you guys feel about DRM. Is it easy to get to the plugs?
Be glad you now have a choice. I wish TTS had these out when I was in the market. Instead, I had to settle for TPIS and the welds are already leaking!
If I had it to do all over again today, it's hands down I'd go with TTS. Top notch design, no loss of low and mid range torque and superb craftsmanship.
Will you see the same performance gains from the TTS and TPIS long tube headers? I've heard that the TPIS has a larger, or maybe it was smaller diameter tube that tends to work better when going with new heads and cam. Can someone please clarify. Also, any other recommendations for headers. I am getting some in October. Thanks! :chevy
TTS Headers have slightly smaller diameter tubes (1 5/8") vs the TPIS (1 3/4") tubes.
The TTS headers are most suited for a bolt-on or heads/cam car. They were designed by Steve Cole (Creator of the famous Powerloader) to increase power in the lower RPMs where C5 drivers spend most of their time driving. It is possible that they give up a few HP up top on a high flowing car, but its a small sacrifice for what they make up in the low end. Steve did a lot of R&D with these headers, and the reason he went with the smaller tubes was NOT to save cost.
The difference in quality from the TTS headers to the TPIS definitely make up for the few hundred dollar cost difference.
I have had the TTS on my heads/cam car now for about 10 months and they are holding up excellent. As you can see with my dyno results, I do not feel I gave up any top end power because of the smaller tubes. I have also drove the exact same heads/cam setup as mine on another car with TPIS headers and both of us agreed my car had noticably more lower end power. The low end power is very important to me because of all the daily driving, autocrossing and roadracing I do with the car.
We do stock TTS headers at all times. Shoot me an email if you are interested in any more details or pricing.
thank God!!!!
I have a set coming in a few days.... I heard their quality issues have been resolved. I sure hope so. It's not like they did not know about it.

CW, you could always bite the bullet and change over?
Ouch!!I have the TPIS in front of me, they sure look good, the flanges are thick, the quality looks very good to me. Will be installing this Thursday, hope they are the right ones..

wwashing, I'm, seriously thinking about it. I'll bet a dyno just before and after would really show my torque curve gets "fatter" and no loss in the top end, too!
Re: Before & after header dyno results (Rippied Z06)
Thanks for the responses and the dyno info.
Rippied Z06, did you go with the 1 5/8 diameter tubes 0r the larger set (1 7/8 if my memory serves me correctly)? Is it easy to get at the plugs, in particular th e cylinder closest to the firewall on the drivers side?
