I've got a 99 with headers, Ls6 intake, crane gold race 1.8 roller rockers, comp valve springs, cold air intake, Borla cat-backs. The car has developed a a miss only when I take it to 6000 or put a load on it. I've had the plugs, wires, fuel filter changed. I've had the injectors and maf cleaned. Any suggestions in what could be causing this? No codes on the computer, the scanner confirms a miss on #7 and #2.

I would double check the plugs honestly. You'd be suprised how many times people crack plugs when installing new ones. If that's not it, I'd look to the valvetrain for bent pushrods, but if it's only under load then it's more than likely gotta be ignition related.

Do you hear a clicking sound that increases with engine RPM ... almost like a noisy valve ?? I had a similar problem .... at first the car missed only at high RPM or under heavy load (6th gear at 1,000 RPM and go WOT ... it would miss) then it got worse. Replaced plugs ... no luck, looked at replacing plug wires and in the process discovered that the plastic cover over the fuel rail had, on install, pulled the plug wire slightly loose from the connection to the coil pack for that cylinder. The connector on the coil pack had degraded because of arcing. Replaced coil pack and plug wire ... problem completely fixed. It was the cylinder on the driver's side closest to the firewall (cylinder 7 I believe).
