Air Filter that is.
I have seen a few posts around here about the K&N, but not much about the Green in a C5 LS1.
Seems like it is a true drop-in for the C5 (don't need to stick on a gasket before putting it in) so better fit. Supposedly better made and has greater air flow while maintaining the less than 5 micron filtration of paper filters and no oily residue deposited in the intake housing.
Any experience out there with it in the LS1?
I just installed a Green filter in my VaraRam, but haven't had the car out yet (rain!). Hope to have it out tomorrow for a nice cruise. Green had a nice display at Carlisle where different filters were used in an air chamber - we've probably all seen a similar one from K&N - and I thought it showed a lot. Ordered one when I got home. Seems to be well built and sturdy, more so than K&N's I've had in the past. I'm looking forward to reporting great results...
I have a Callaway Honker intake and they supply the Green filter as standard equipment in their kit. It works great. I've had it long enough now to have done a cleaning service. While the intake side of the filter wasn't too dirty, the engine side of the filter was spotless clean. It makes me assume not a speck of dirt was getting through. Also, since it is a bottom-feeder intake, I recently drove through a lot of rain going to and from Carlisle without any problems whatsoever.
I also installed a Green in my stock S-10 and the throttle response felt a little better with a slight increase in mpg's.
