After considering this, I still went with Rodney's. In my view the rubber serves a very important purpose by absorbing the shock of the motor arm hitting the stops. Otherwise that force is being exerted on the plastic stops and the electric actuator itself.
Also, after over 6 years my original rubber was still basically perfect, so under normal use they shouldn't get chewed.
I just did the gear install last weekend and it worked great.
I used Rodney's old kit that didn't include the T-braces, just glue. After a couple of glue failures, I re-visited Rodney's site, exchanged some email, and asked for and ordered just the T-braces from the new kit. He sent glue, T-braces, and a replacement rubber piece for one that got mangled. I'd give him more business, if I could.
I installed the kit from Rodney and it was perfect. It came with everything that you need to rebuild the motor including the gear, rubber bushing, internal spacer, silicone, epoxy, t-bar with plastic bushing, and it even came with a stir stick for the epoxy! I highly reccommend it and when my other gear goes TU it will get the exact same kit.
Head light motor makes a really loud noise when it closes. How can I fiix this would replacing gears work.
These gears would solve your problem. I went the cheap route and got my "stock" gears for $10. I'm sure they will go out again but at only $10 it's not that bad. PM if you want the link and part number. They are not a sponsor on here.

A couple ways to help lengthen the life of your stock gears:
1. Lube the headlight linkages once a year when you're lubing all the other lubing, i.e. hood hinges, door hinges, etc.
2. Guys living in northern climates (read as ice/snow) always make sure you clear any and all ice and/or snow that may accumulate before raising the headlights.
3. I don't care how cute or sexy they are, never ever let a Hooters Girl (or anyone else for that matter) sit on the fender/headlight door.
