LS6 Heads worth the effort?
A guy at Thunderracing said that I'd probably get about 10rwhp if I swapped my heads (LS1) for LS6's?
What do you think?
I just put in a Cheatr Cam and am planning on the LS6 Intake.
I have Headers (shortys) and ported Throttle Body.

Yeah, you'll get at least 20-30 rwhp out of stock Z06 heads with the sodium filled valves.

Yeah buddy..check my sig. My LS1 has 2002 LS6 heads and cam, while doing that change oil pump to a LS6 oil pump and timming chain. I had an SLP UD Pulley installed also, Ported LS6 TB, A LS6 intake. Went to a FAST intake later and long headers, haven't had it dynoed since the FAST and LT were installed. Those dyno numbers in my sig. are with your setup running shortie headers.. 349. RWHP and 351 RWTQ 3.15 gears '97 A4
Not bad. AFR is 12.5

heads on a corvette is an easy swap, mill the ls6 heads slightly and run a .040-.045 cometic gasket and you might be impressed with the power you make over the entire RPM range. I would guess 25-30rwhp

If your gonna do it, do it right. Have the heads ported to closely match the cam profile. have it done by thunderracing since they are the vendor of your cam. Your car will be kick ***! To make a heads and cam setup work, you need to make sure they match each other to the T!

Thanks for the encouragement. I already bought the heads, but the guy at Thunder kind of had me bummed when he said only 10 rwhp!

I think you got this backwards.... You buy a cam that will compliment your heads not port the heads to match the cam
The LS6 heads are great and with a mild cam you can see over 400 easy.

I installed the GMPP Z heads with a small cam; the results were 400HP with 387 FT/LBS at the wheels. Get the heads ported and deck them, you will be happy

Afraid of valve to piston clearance, does anyone know of a place on LI, NY for Porting& Polishing?
I just finished putting in a Cheatr cam and now I found LS6 heads I want to put on with a LS6 intake.
I really don't want to go through any more expense to p&p, think its stupid? Can't find someone local to p&p. Looking into maybe porting them myself?

MSG Huff is the man! He needs to come down to Augusta for the next CC race as there a few 402 A4s that need a fast car to run (mine is not there)
