I have an '01 Z06 that is new to me, 20k miles. The last few times that I have filled up the tank, I've had a fuel smell in the garage. It took a bit to trace it to the Vette and I saw no evidence of a leak until the second time it occured and I noticed the fuel smell right off the bat and sure enough, there was fuel leaking from the rear passenger tank. Once some fuel leaks or is used up (probably a mere gallon or so), the leak and smell are gone. It would seem that the problem is at the top of the tank, probably where the filler neck connects. I'm not understanding, however, why no codes are being thrown. If the gas cap is loose, one of the codes gets thrown about there being loss of vacuum in the fuel system. Why wouldn't this happen with a frank leak? Could something else be going on that I'm missing?
Thanks,
Jason
