HELP!!!! DIC says Service Column Lock!!!!!!?????
What do I do, I cant go anywhere, I'm stuck at work. Is this a recall issue? First time in over 3 yrs with the car am I getting this message. Im past the warranty but do have gmpp extended warranty. Wasnt there a recall on this?

call a flatbed and yes there is a recall for certain vin #s and years...sorry to hear :(

I called Chev, they said mine is invovled in the recall 
, but they wont cover towing until they can determine that, so it will be a out of pocket expense, unless extended warranty picks it up.

I have had this happen before (a car disabled because of a recall item) - but not with Chevy.
In my case, I paid the tow and then once the determined my car would not run due to the item in the recall failing, they paid me back for the tow. If they find that it is a non-recall item, then they do not repay you - unless your extended warranty covers towing (I think it does).

Have you tried all the tricks to unlock it? Like jerking the wheel left/right while turning the key on/off repeatedly? Might be enough to get you going.

I have been on this forum for the past 7 months and it may be the #1 topic, but the #1 solution was to get the bypass kit. The car is over 3 yrs old, not one problem with the column, I just wanted to know any quick fixes to get it home, advice from people that might have encountered this as well. Thanks to all that responded, it's at the dealer, they said they would have it done by tomm and even offered a loaner, but i didnt need it.
