Default interesting engine replacments for LS1

as much of an engineering marvel as the Ls1 is, iv'e noticed that many vette owners have opted for a replacement power plant. i'm curious what some of you have chosen/would like to choose and what makes that new power plant different?

What else have you seen, I don't know why anyone would change the Lsx engine...I couldn't see an upside.

All the replacements I have heard of are LSx series engines. Either a bored/stroked LS1, an LS6, LS2 or some people go with the C5R block which is LS based also. Now some people are looking toward the LS7. Pretty much a bolt in.

most of what i've seen are aftermarket versions of the LSx series. but with minor differences. also what is the difference between the LS1/LS6 and the newer LS2/LS7?

an LS2 will swap right over with no problems as long as it is a 2005 or older model that uses the 24 tooth reluctor wheel.. the newer models have 58 teeth reluctor wheels so you would have to change that part off the crank.

other then that.

you can go buy an ls2 long block and use ALL of your accessories on the engine (ac comp, power steering, injectors, knock sensors, and everything else) the only thing you may have to do is lengthening of some wires but thats all pretty minor stuff.............

I thought the LS2 knock sensors weren't compatible with the LS1 knock systems?
