I was driving this morning on a nice strech of road and decide to open it up a little bit, right about when I hit 100mph I notice the driver side mirror flapping in the breeze (100mph breeze).
So when I get home I take a look at the manufacturing setup. Who the H#LL designed this setup. Had to take whole door panel and mirrior assembly apart the get it back together.
What a pain in the ***. I finally got it back together. Can't imagine how much a stearlership would charge for what should be a simple fix.
That happened to me also. Took we about 3 hours to fix it. (1.5 hrs of that was figureing out how to compress the spring and get the retaining clip snaped back in place. Some guys have fix theirs and the clip didn't hold for long. I made the groove in the tube deeper with a hack saw blade. If anyone is doing a search on this fix I can help.
Same thing here. But I figured the clip would slip off again. USED GOOP
yes GOOP to CEMENT top and bottom sections together. No longer SWINGS when you hit something like the mirrors thay made for what 75 years with little problems unless you are too tight going into the garage or have a lot of trees close to your driveway. Has been GOOPED for about 6 months and still holding. Saves taking off the mirror.
